Golden Valley Electric Association is seeking a Journeyman Wireman for the Healy Power Plant in Alaska. This full-time role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, with a 7-day-on/7-day-off schedule and 12-hour days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal electrical training; extensive work experience may count toward a portion of the educational requirements.
• Journeyman Wireman certification.
• Four or more years of experience and/or four years of apprenticeship training.
• Valid Alaska driver's license with an excellent driving record.
• Valid First Aid card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, circuits, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, controls, instrumentation, and equipment at the Healy Power Plant.
• Work with electrical and control systems essential to safe and reliable plant operations.
• Test and repair electrical equipment, transformers, reclosers, protective relays, and controls; install and test fiber optic cable; work with instrumentation and process control systems.
• Support new construction by installing conduit, wiring, electrical services, lighting, and power distribution equipment.
