Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Journeyman level welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Weld or tack weld pieces using spot, electric, or gas welding equipment.
• Join pipes and metal parts per layout, blueprints, or instructions.
• Operate and adjust torch flames, gas, and air to reach correct temperature and color.
• Preheat work pieces for welding or shaping processes.
• Fill holes and correct defects in lead pieces; develop metal shapes.
• Measure pieces with straightedge or templates to meet specs.
• Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to access work areas.
• Signal crane operator to lift large pieces.
• Use cutting tools to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
• Move and position pieces using hoists, cranes, or hand tools.
• Select welding indication positions based on thickness and area.
