Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a skilled Truck Operator to join our field team. You will operate Water, Dump, Haul, and Tractor Trailer/Lowboy trucks per project requirements while following Mortenson safety policies and procedures.

This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork; you will perform routine maintenance, monitor equipment, read load charts and manuals, and collaborate with diverse colleagues to keep projects moving smoothly.

Qualifications

• Related construction experience preferred.
• Current driver’s license with necessary endorsements as required by law.
• Strong teamwork orientation.
• Positive attitude and professional customer service skills.
• Detail orientation.
• Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals, and maneuver steering wheel to operate equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, load charts.
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses.
• Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication).
• Ability to work independently.
• Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
• Position duties may change without notice.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks (Water, Dump, Haul, Tractor Trailer/Lowboy) as required by project needs.
• Follow prescribed safety regulations and Mortenson policies.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned area.
• Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, fueling, and cleaning.
• Observe equipment operation to detect malfunctions.
• Follow work plans and pre-task cards.
• Build respectful relationships across diverse teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
