Job summary

AWS/CES is seeking a Journeyman Technician for our automotive manufacturing client in Lansing, MI. This is a full-time, direct-hire role offering a pay rate of up to $37.24 per hour plus benefits.

The position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in a highly automated environment and collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Certification (Electrical, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, or equivalent skilled trade).
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
• Strong troubleshooting in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot motors, drives, gearboxes, pumps, valves, conveyors, and automated production systems.
• Repair and replace machine components while ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and electrical control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Diagnose electrical circuits, sensors, relays, VFDs, and control devices.
• Support robotic and automated manufacturing equipment as needed.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Complete scheduled PMs and document maintenance activities using the CMMS system.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Follow OSHA, company safety and LOTO procedures; maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Ensure repairs meet quality standards and support uninterrupted production.
• Promote safe work practices with production and engineering teams.
• Work with Maintenance Supervisors, Engineers, and Production personnel to resolve equipment issues.
• Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
• Support new equipment commissioning and process improvements.
