Job summary

American Home Contractors is seeking a Journeyman Solar Electrician for on-site field work in the MD/VA/DC area. You will own the electrical side of solar installs and lead apprentices on projects, with early starts and a four-day work week.

A take-home vehicle is provided, along with overtime opportunities. We require an active journeyman license in MD/VA/DC, 3+ years of electrical or solar PV experience, and the ability to read blueprints and work safely on roofs.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active journeyman electrician license in MD, VA, or DC and pass state verification.
• 3+ years in the electrical trade, including hands-on solar PV work.
• Solid NEC knowledge; able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Comfortable on roofs and in attics; tie off every time.
• Able to climb ladders, lift 50 lb, work outdoors, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair the electrical side of solar systems.
• Run conduit and wire to NEC and local code.
• Install breakers, inverters, Powerwalls, and other components.
• Handle inspections and troubleshoot problems.
• Lead and mentor the apprentices and techs on your jobs.

Journeyman Solar Electrician

$36–$45/hr + overtime | Full-time W-2 | 4-day work week | Take-home vehicle

Fulton, MD and Chantilly, VA (field job, solar warehouse in Columbia, MD)

This is an on-site, field-based role. Not remote.

Got your journeyman license and want to work on solar and battery storage? We're adding one more licensed electrician to the American Home Contractors Solar Division. You'll own the electrical side of our installs and lead the apprentices on your jobs.

Heads up: we start early

Crews are on site by 8:00 AM. On long-drive days, you're on the road by 6:00 AM. If early mornings aren't for you, this isn't the right job. If they are, you get a four-day week in return.

AHC is a solar and roofing company and part of Infinity Home Services. We install Tesla solar and other PV systems, add battery storage, and service existing systems across MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, DE, and NJ. We hire carefully because we want people who stay.

What you'll do

What you need

• An active journeyman electrician license in MD, VA, or DC. This is required. We verify every license with the state. Apprentice licenses don't qualify.
• 3+ years in the electrical trade, including hands-on solar PV work
• Solid NEC knowledge. You can read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Comfortable on roofs and in attics, and you tie off every time
• Able to climb ladders, lift 50 lb, and work outdoors, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Able to make the early starts above
• Your own basic hand tools (we supply the rest)
• You live within 85 miles of our Columbia, MD warehouse, or you'll relocate before you start
• A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our insurance carrier's standards

Nice to have

• Tesla Powerwall or Tesla solar experience
• Battery storage and backup experience
• Crew lead experience

Pay and perks

• $36–$45/hr based on license and experience, with overtime over 40 hours
