Job summary

Central Michigan University is seeking a Journeyman Plumber to perform skilled plumbing work in installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of campus plumbing systems. The role requires reading blueprints, following codes, and delivering high-quality workmanship with strong customer service.

Two positions are available in the Plumbing Shop within Finance and Administrative Services. The shift is 7:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold Michigan Journeyman Plumbing license.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to obtain ASSE Backflow Certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, maintain, and install plumbing fixtures and fittings.
• Install and service potable water, waste, and drainage systems.
• Plan work and obtain materials and equipment.
• Operate power tools and hand tools safely.
• Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose issues.
• Coordinate with contractors and other trades as needed.
• Keep records and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and be on-call.
