Job summary

Austin Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced pipefitter to lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related equipment in industrial facilities.

This role covers steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and process systems, with emphasis on precision and safety. Responsibilities include cutting, threading, and assembling pipes; mounting pipes and supports; planning layouts; selecting sizes and materials; inspecting worksites; operating pumps to remove water from flooded areas; and

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Journeyman level piping experience.
• Proven ability to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems.

Responsibilities

• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using saws, torches, pipe threaders and benders.
• Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures using brackets and clamps.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications.
• Select pipe sizes and materials according to specifications.
• Modify, clean and maintain pipe systems and equipment.
• Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
• Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids.
• Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural safety.
• Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
• Dip nonferrous piping materials in molten tin and lead for coating.
