Job summary

Water Resources Group seeks a Journeyman Pipefitter for North Dakota projects to lay out, fabricate, assemble and install piping systems for water and wastewater facilities. You will read blueprints, P&IDs, and isometrics, ensuring work meets codes and safety standards.

Required are 4–6 years of pipefitting experience with a Journeyman card, plus a high school diploma or equivalent and a registered apprenticeship. Perks include health insurance, 401(k), PTO, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of a registered Pipefitter apprenticeship required for Journeyman.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of pipefitting experience with current Journeyman certification/card.
  • Experience with water or wastewater plant piping is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems per blueprints, isometrics, and specifications.
  • Cut, thread, groove, weld, and solder pipe using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Install valves, pumps, meters, and other piping components.
  • Perform pressure testing and leak checks on installed piping systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
  • Coordinate with millwrights, foremen, and other trades for sequencing.
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Primary Function

Journeyman Pipefitters are responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems on water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects, ensuring all work meets project specifications, applicable codes, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems (steel, PVC, ductile iron, and other materials) according to blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications
  • Cut, thread, groove, weld, and solder pipe using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Install valves, pumps, meters, and other piping system components
  • Perform pressure testing and leak checks on installed piping systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams), and isometric drawings
  • Coordinate with millwrights, foremen, and other trades to ensure proper sequencing of installation work
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Educational Background

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a registered Pipefitter apprenticeship program required for Journeyman status.

Work Experience

Minimum 4–6 years of pipefitting experience, with current Journeyman certification/card required. Experience with water or wastewater treatment plant piping systems is a plus, but not required.

Practical Knowledge
  • Pipe fabrication, threading, grooving, welding, and soldering techniques
  • Reading blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
  • Pressure testing and leak detection methods
  • Safety protocols for pipefitting, rigging, and confined space work
Computer Skills Applied

Not typically required. Basic familiarity with a tablet or mobile device for daily reporting is a plus.

Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, able to work independently and as part of a crew, and physically able to meet the demands of the job.

Mechanical Foreman / Superintendent.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation range: $30- $40, commensurate with experience

Per diem: $100/day

Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays.
