Job summary

Sierra Lobo is seeking a Journeyman Level Mechanical Technician to support NASA Glenn Research Center wind tunnel facilities. You will perform routine and non-routine mechanical tasks, troubleshoot and repair test-related hardware, and work with high-temperature fuel systems.

Training will occur with current facility technicians, and shifts may rotate with overtime as needed. The role requires a minimum of 4 years as a Journeyman Level Mechanic or equivalent; proficiency with hand and power

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years as Journeyman Level Mechanic (maintenance tech or similar).
• Experience with research test facilities and equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.
• Ability to use judgment to maintain workflow continuity.
• Self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to organize time and priorities for maximum effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Operate facility equipment including overhead crane and lifting gear.
• Weld horizontally, overhead, and vertical using MIG/TIG where required.
• Operate and maintain mechanical tools like drills, saws, lathes, grinders.
• Lay out and build tubing systems using flaring machines and benders.
• Disassemble/repair/verify valves and regulators; ensure compatibility with flow media properties.
• Operate hydraulic and high-pressure gas systems and related components.
• Assist in installation and operation of complex test packages in facilities.
• Fabricate and maintain test panels and cryogenic systems as needed.
• Perform general maintenance on mechanical vacuum pumping equipment and related systems.
• Inspect and evaluate mechanical equipment; recommend maintenance and repairs.
• Fabricate and operate cryogenic systems including LH2, LOX, LN2, or LHe.
