Job summary

Cemex US is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Journeyman to maintain and repair industrial equipment, perform welding and fabrication, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems. You will support plant operations to keep equipment running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, MSHA certification, 3–6 years of relevant experience, and proficiency with various tools and welding equipment. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required and MSHA certification is required (or obtainable within a reasonable time).
• 3–6 years of mechanical, welding, or maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools; read technical manuals and safety documentation; strong communication skills.
• Basic computer and typing skills; ability to work independently or in a team; Spanish language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety regulations (CEMEX, OSHA, MSHA) and wear PPE.
• Maintain, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment; perform inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Carry out arc/gas welding, layout, pipefitting, and millwright tasks; fabricate parts per specs.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical problems; ensure equipment operates safely.
• Replace bearings, align machinery, inspect power transmission, repair electrical circuits.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; report hazardous conditions.
• Mentor less experienced team members; complete inspections and maintenance reports.
• Respond to emergency repairs and participate in major outages as needed.
