Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Covington Mill seeks a Maintenance Journeyman Machinist in Covington, VA to support maintenance and repair of machines and equipment throughout the mill. The role requires a Virginia state approved Journeyman certification or equivalent and the ability to read blueprints and manufacture parts as drawn.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety, operating manual lathes and milling machines, and rigging for material movement, with training available in a second craft if needed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all department safety programs.
• Flexibility to work in a multi-craft role and contribute to a team-based environment.
• Read and interpret blueprints/drawings; manufacture parts from drawings.
• Machine test parts on a lathe and milling machine; fabricate parts as needed.
• Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
• Perform rigging for material movement and assist other crafts as assigned.
