Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Mechanical Multi-Craft Maintenance Journeyman for our Papermill in Cottonton, Alabama. The role focuses on rebuilding, repairing, and installing rotating equipment, using precision tools, and interpreting detailed drawings.

A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork is required. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of industrial journeyman experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work overtime.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of industrial experience as Multi-craft Journeyman.

Responsibilities

• Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
• Identify correct replacement parts.
• Perform repairs to faulty equipment.
• Safely operate powered hand tools, hoists and lifting devices.
• Assess condition of parts using micrometers and calipers.
• Read prints and shop manuals to verify equipment specifications.

The Opportunity

Smurfit Westrock - Mahrt Operations is looking to find committed, hardworking individuals to fill current openings as Mechanical multi-craft maintenance journeymen at our Papermill in Cottonton, Alabama We are looking for the individual that has experience in rebuild, repair, and installation of rotating equipment, Precision tool use (i.e. Micrometers, laser alignment, etc.), and repair or manufacture repair parts within specifications/tolerances. The ability to operate manually controlled lathes and milling machines and interpret detailed mechanical drawings is a plus. General knowledge of hydraulics, minor welding and minor pipe repair are benefits as well.We offer a competitive wage rate of $48.36/HR and a full benefits package!

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years Formal Education in the trade- graduation from an approved apprentice program and/or technical or military trade school is highly preferred
