Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a skilled Machinist to plan, layout, and fabricate developmental parts and assemblies, including test equipment and missile components. The role requires setting up manual machines with GD&T and reading blueprints.

You will perform offline programming with MasterCam and work with a range of materials. The job is onsite and requires ability to pass a practical test and obtain required security clearances.

Qualifications

• Six years of recent experience in a Tool & Die or Journeyman Machinist occupation.
• Ability to set up and operate conventional tool-room machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Proficient in reading and working from blueprints.
• High School Diploma or equivalency (GED); an AAS in Machine Tool Technology is a plus.
• Must be able to work any designated shift, including overnight.
• Must pass a practical test within 30 days of hiring or upon promotion.
• Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance before the start date.
• Must obtain and maintain an ATF clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, layout, fabricate, and assemble developmental type parts and assemblies, including test equipment, missile assemblies, tools, gauges, molds, dies, and fixtures.
• Set up and operate manual machines using general machining practices and optimal tooling/set‑ups with minimal direct supervision.
• Apply advanced mathematical and problem‑solving skills and comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Use Standard Inspection Equipment (SIE) to maintain part tolerance conformance during fabrication.
• Perform offline programming with Master Cam or conversational software to set up and fabricate complex precision developmental and potential pre‑production parts.
• Produce parts from a range of materials, from standard to exotic.
