Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking an Apprentice/Journey level lineman to construct, maintain, and repair energized and de-energized transmission and distribution lines. Roles include pole work, conductor installation, and street lighting setup, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Required are a high school diploma and apprenticeship equivalence (IBEW Lineman) or journeyman certification; CPR/First Aid is also expected. DOT drug testing applies; CDL may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and coworkers.
• Willingness to work irregular hours during storms and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Construct, dismantle, maintain, operate, patrol and repair transmission and distribution lines and equipment.
• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors; frame and climb poles and structures.
• Operate construction equipment such as basket trucks, digger trucks, trenchers, backhoes.
• Restore electric service promptly after outages due to weather or equipment failure.
• Install and maintain street and security lighting; manage safety standards and CPR/First Aid.
