Job summary

Alliant Energy Corporation is seeking an Apprentice or Journey level lineworker to construct, maintain, operate, patrol, and repair energized and de-energized transmission and distribution lines and equipment for reliable service to electrical customers in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The role requires a High School Diploma and 4+ years of line construction or equivalent apprenticeship experience, with certifications such as Journeyman lineman and CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Mechanical skills and ability to work in a team.
• Capable communicator.
• Courteous and tactful with the public.
• Willing to work irregular hours during storm emergencies.
• Four-year apprenticeship or equivalent experience required.

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors.
• Frame and climb poles and structures; disassemble as needed.
• Operate basket, digger, trenchers, backhoes and related equipment.
• Restore electric service after weather or equipment failure.
• Install and maintain street and security lighting.
• Operate and maintain hydraulic tools and systems.
• Install underground equipment including cable and switchgear.
• Follow safety and construction standards.
• CPR and First Aid.
• Report to work fit for duty and free from drugs/alcohol.
