Job summary

Jefferson Utilities is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to support the municipal electrical transmission and distribution system in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Under the Electric Utility Business Manager and Line Superintendent, you will construct, maintain, and repair lines, install services, and ensure safety.

Candidates must have a high school diploma with electrical distribution training, a Journeyman Lineman card, and a valid WI CDL.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with vocational training in electrical distribution.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain electrical transmission and distribution lines; install crossarms, wires, insulators and transformers.
• Install new services.
• Conduct load and voltage surveys; install equipment as necessary.
• Install and maintain streetlights and streetlight systems.
• Trim trees that may affect the system.
• Locate malfunctioning lines; replace fuses and clear short circuits; perform emergency work.
• Locate underground facilities per customer requests.
• Perform routine substation maintenance and inspections weekly.
• Assist with maintenance of department vehicles, equipment and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
