Responsibilities

• Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove hazards or facilitate repairs.
• Place insulating materials over conductors and joints.
• Install electrical distribution and transmission systems, including cables and switches.
• Maintain and repair distribution and transmission systems.
• Identify defective devices using diagrams and testing instruments.
• Inspect and test power lines and equipment to locate problems.
• String conductors between poles and other structures, adjust tension.
• Replace or straighten damaged poles.
• Test voltage to ensure correct connections.
• Install meters and connect service drops between lines and customers’ facilities.
• Lay underground cable directly in trenches or through conduit.
• Analyze sites to determine safest and most efficient method to complete tasks.
