Xcel Energy is seeking Journeyman Lineman / Advanced Step Apprentice (5th step or higher) for the Monticello Service Center in Monticello, MN. The role involves construction, maintenance and emergency repairs across our electrical distribution and transmission systems.

Candidates should reside within 20 miles of the reporting HQ and meet line schooling or journeyman certification requirements. Typical earnings range from $62.27 to $49.82 per hour depending on step, with benefits including

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess a degree/diploma from an accepted Line School or a state issued Journeyman certificate for an Advanced step position.
• Must possess a state issued Journeyman certificate and pass a company skills assessment for a Journeyman position.
• Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers is required.
• Must be able to work at heights up to and above 100 feet.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home.
• Must be able to communicate effectively; have good teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
• Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimum customer service.
• Must be able to work additional hours, respond to after hours and weekend call outs.
• A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
• Just meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License Class A.
• Must live within a 20 miles radius from the Montevideo Service Center.
• This job will require the ability to work in an efficient manner while performing the essential responsibilities of the position which may include lifting and maneuvering

We anticipate the need for one or more Journeyman Lineman / Advanced Step Apprentice (5th step or higher) to join our team at our Monticello Service Center in Monticello, MN. The Journeyman hourly rate for this position is $62.27, and the 5th Step Apprentice rate is $49.82.

This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from October 30, 2026, to November 12, 2026.
