Xcel Energy in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Journeyman Lineman or Advanced Step Apprentice to support construction, maintenance and emergency repairs of overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems. The base rate for Journeyman Lineman is $62.27 hourly, with 3rd Step Apprentice starting at $43.59.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a line-school diploma or Journeyman certificate, and a valid Class A CDL; candidate must pass a company skills assessment

• Must possess a degree/diploma from an accepted Line School or a state issued Journeyman certificate for an Advanced step position.
• Must possess a state issued Journeyman certificate and pass a company skills assessment for a Journeyman position.
• Must meet driver qualification requirements, including the possession of a valid Commercial Class A Driver's License.
• Must be physically capable of performing all aspects of electric overhead and underground distribution construction, operations, and maintenance work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to successfully work with customers on a wide range of concerns.

We anticipate a need for one or more Advanced Step Apprentice (3rd step or above) / Journeyman Lineman to be located at our Chestnut Service Center in Minneapolis, MN.

The base rate of pay for Journeyman Lineman is $62.27 hourly according to the “Exhibit A” wage scale.

A 3rd Step Apprentice will be coming in at 70% of the Journeyman rate of pay at $43.59.

4th Step at 75%, 5th Step at 80%, 85% at 6th Step, 90% at 7th Step, or 95% at a 8th Step.

This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from October 26, 2026, to November 6, 2026.

Summary

Special Requirements

Requires participation in after-hours emergency call outs.

This position is subject to D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program.
