Alaska Village Electric Cooperative is hiring a Journeyman Lineman to support reliable electric service across Alaska. This onsite role offers challenging field work and opportunities to work on distribution systems and power plants.

Ideal candidates have Alaska Journeyman certification, 5 years of distribution experience, a lineman apprenticeship, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of electrical power distribution experience.
• Experience in rural Alaska preferred.
• Alaska Journeyman Power Lineman certification.
• Completion of a lineman apprenticeship program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Organize, direct and perform on-site construction work to support the distribution system.
• Respond to outages and emergencies to restore power quickly.
• Identify and correct operational issues; conduct maintenance on distribution systems and power plants.
• Maintain positive relations with the Village Council and Member-Owners.

A minimum of five years' experience in electrical power distribution is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked in rural Alaska due to the unique challenges of the environment. You must hold a Journeyman Power Lineman certification from the State of Alaska and have successfully completed a lineman apprenticeship program, demonstrating both your technical prowess and commitment to the craft. Additionally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid driver's license.

Proficiency in using specialized tools and software related to electric utility work is also necessary, allowing you to efficiently respond to operational issues and ensure the smooth functioning of our distribution systems.
