Alaska Village Electric Cooperative seeks a Line Foreman to organize and direct its distribution crews in Behtel, Alaska. You will lead a team, plan work, ensure materials and equipment availability, and uphold safety standards across our diesel, wind, and solar powered grids.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Line Foreman to assist in the organizing and directing of the distribution activities of our utility in Behtel, Alaska. The Line Foreman plays a pivotal role in our electrical distribution system, guaranteeing its reliability, safety, and efficiency. This position demands exceptional technical proficiency and a dedication to safety and delivering exceptional service to our members.
Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) stands as a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.
As the Line Foreman at AVEC, each day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a meaningful impact on our operations and communities. The duties of the Line Foreman will include leading a team of line workers, providing guidance, training and support to ensure high performance and adherence to safety protocols; planning, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments and verifying material and equipment availability; ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. You will also communicate with cooperative members to troubleshoot and devise solutions for electrical service problems. As the Line Foreman, safety will be a top priority. You will assist in cultivating a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. While out in the field, you will instruct workers on proper use of all equipment, materials, ensuring the safe handling of cables, and meticulously adhering to all aspects of OSHA regulations. Any findings while inspecting distribution facilities will be reported to the superintendent and/or manager, and you will participate in follow up of required corrective actions, investigations of incidents, accidents and near misses.
