Job summary

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to work onsite in Alaska's rugged environment, supporting diesel generation and distribution systems.

You will respond to outages, perform maintenance and repairs, and uphold strict safety standards while serving local communities and maintaining strong relations with the Village Council and Member-Owners.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical power distribution.
  • Journeyman Power Lineman certification from the State of Alaska.
  • Successful completion of a lineman apprenticeship program; high school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential construction work on-site to support diesel generation and distribution systems.
  • Respond to outages and emergencies to restore power promptly.
  • Identify and correct operational issues; conduct maintenance and repairs while following safety protocols.
  • Maintain positive relations with Village Council and Member-Owners.

A minimum of five years’ experience in electrical power distribution is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked in rural Alaska due to the unique challenges of the environment.

You must hold a Journeyman Power Lineman certification from the State of Alaska and have successfully completed a lineman apprenticeship program, demonstrating both your technical prowess and commitment to the craft. Additionally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid driver’s license.
