Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to support material preparation, handling, and supply for ongoing construction work in Jacksonville, FL. The role involves loading/unloading, scaffolding setup, concrete work, and assisting multiple labor grades on site.

The position requires completion of a two-year apprenticeship and preferred construction experience, with strong teamwork and safety awareness. Benefits include medical, 401k, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction is preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and debris removal.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
