Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking an insulation worker to apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, and ducts to control noise and temperatures. The role requires reading plans and working independently with experienced craft personnel.

Responsibilities include selecting materials, measuring, cutting, installing insulation, and ensuring safety compliance. Physical stamina and ability to work at heights are needed, with a commitment to quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Plan work and select proper tools.
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
• Reads and interprets blue prints, instructions, and other documentation.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blue prints, instructions, and other documentation or plan work activities.
• Determines the amounts and selects required insulation material based on heat retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.
• Covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces or access holes with covers, sealants, tape, cement or mastic.
• Fits insulation around obstructions and shapes insulating materials and protective coverings.
• Installs sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect insulation.
• Measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces using measuring tools.
• Prepares surfaces for insulation application with adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or pins.
• Covers or seals insulation with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure it to structure.
• Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines and safety procedures.
