Job summary

Brown & Root is seeking an insulation worker to apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, and ducts to control noise and maintain temperatures. You will read plans, determine materials, and prepare surfaces for insulation installation in a team environment.

You will also measure, cut, fit, seal, and protect insulation while following safety rules and using personal protective equipment; prior field experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blue prints, instructions, and other documentation or plan work activities.
• Determines the amounts and selects required insulation material based on heat retention and location.
• Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.
• Covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces with protective coverings.
• Fits insulation around obstructions and shapes materials as required.
• Installs sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect insulation.
• Measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces.
• Prepares surfaces for insulation application and attaches necessary fasteners.
• Covers or seals insulation to secure it to structures.
• Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
• May remove or seal off old asbestos insulation with safety procedures.
• Completes records, maintains tools and performs cleanup.
• Observes safety and project rules and uses required PPE.
