Job summary

Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning in Iowa City is seeking a Journeyman HVAC Installer to lead installation projects while staying hands-on. You will install residential and light commercial systems and mentor other installers.

This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with overtime as needed, competitive pay $30–$38 per hour, and a benefits package including health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement plan.

Qualifications

If you have the experience to install HVAC systems, troubleshoot problems, lead an installation crew, and take pride in doing the job right, Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning wants to hear from you.

We’re looking for a Journeyman HVAC Installer to install residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning systems while supervising and mentoring other installers.

You’ll work primarily Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with an hour lunch and overtime as needed.

What You’ll Do

As a Journeyman HVAC Installer, you’ll take a leadership role on installation projects while remaining hands-on with the work. You’ll help ensure systems are installed correctly, efficiently, safely, and to the standards our customers expect.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing heating and air conditioning systems in residential and light commercial settings
• Supervising and mentoring other HVAC installers
• Troubleshooting installation and system issues
• Working with ductwork, low-voltage systems, refrigerant, gas and electric furnaces, and heat pumps
• Testing and balancing completed systems
• Maintaining a professional relationship with customers and coworkers
• Helping ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule

What You’ll Need

We’re looking for an experienced HVAC installation professional who can take ownership of a project and lead others by example.

Required qualifications include:

• NATE certification for all installer certifications
• Knowledge of ductwork systems, low-voltage systems, refrigerant, gas and electric furnaces, and heat pumps
• Ability to troubleshoot and install both residential and light commercial HVAC systems
• Ability to test and balance systems
• Leadership ability and experience guiding other installers
• Ability to provide your own tools
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., work in tight spaces, and use a ladder
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Reliability, organization, and strong time management
• Professional presentation
• Located in or near Iowa City

This is a full-time position paying $30–$38/hour, depending on experience.
