  • JOB DESCRIPTION: MECHANICAL HEAT/AIR; JOURNEYMAN
  • SALARY SCHEDULE: SCHEDULE Y
  • DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE
  • FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
  • SAFETY-SENSITIVE: YES
  • POSITION SUMMARY: The employee will be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned. The employee will be required to work in close relation to his/her peers and all other Mid-Del employees.
  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
    • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks.
    • Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma license for motor vehicles.
    • Must maintain confidential information of sensitive nature.
    • Must be available for unscheduled, emergency call.
    • Shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations.
    • Shall be currently licensed and in good standing as a Mechanical Journeyman with the following: Oklahoma State Department of Health Mechanical Division, City of Oklahoma City, City of Midwest City, and City of Del City.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Must be proficient in the application of the International and BOCA Mechanical Codes, and all applicable state and local codes.
    • Regularly must work in confined spaces above, below, and at ground level. Regularly must work in aerial bucket ladder or cat walk at a height not to exceed 100'.
    • Must be proficient in the diagnoses, service, and the installation of condensing units, compressors, unit furnaces, central units, and rooftop units. Shall be responsible for the service and maintenance of ice machines, steam cookers, walk in refrigeration units (low & high temp.), and milk boxes.
    • Successful applicant will be required to attend a Refrigerant Certification class and apply for refrigerant certification within one (1) year from date of employment.
    • Shall be skilled in the recovery of refrigerants. Employee shall also be current on all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) updates on refrigerant recovery. Employee shall also be responsible for maintaining purchase and usage records of refrigerant.
    • Responsible for the replacement of electric motors, starters, controllers, remote switches, etc.
    • Perform maintenance, service, and operation of boiler and chilled water systems. Perform water analysis in boiler and chilled water systems.
    • Responsible for the changing of a wide range of filter types and sizes. Skilled in the brazing and soldering of similar and dissimilar metals.
    • Diagnoses and repairs controls of energy management systems.
    • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
  • LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
