Job summary

Texas Materials is seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The role involves operating heavy equipment for excavation, grading, trenching, loading, and site preparation in accordance with project specs and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience operating excavators on construction or earthwork projects, with a solid understanding of underground utilities and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating excavators in construction, site development, heavy civil, utility, or earthwork projects.
• Experience working around underground utilities preferred.
• Experience with GPS-enabled machine control systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material placement work.
• Dig and maintain trenches for utilities, drainage systems, and underground infrastructure.
• Load trucks, move materials, and assist with site development and earthwork activities.
• Read and interpret grade stakes, construction plans, and project specifications.
• Work closely with grade shooters, foremen, laborers, and other equipment operators to achieve production goals.
• Perform fine grading and finish work when required.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
