CCS Construction Staffing is actively hiring a Journeyman Electrician in Sterling, VA for a year-long data center project. You will install and terminate electrical systems, troubleshoot, and collaborate with project teams on site.

This full-time role requires a minimum of 5 years' experience, a valid Journeyman license, and safety training; schedule is 4 10s and 2 8s, starting at 6am, with potential for growth and additional safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial/missions-critical electrical experience.
• Journeyman Electrician License required by jurisdiction.
• Experience with data center electrical systems is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and electrical construction practices.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and one-line diagrams.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Journeyman Electrician in Sterling, VA
Pay Rate: $30/hr + $100/day
Location: Sterling, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time / Project-Based
Schedule: 4 10s and 2 8s, starting at 6am
Start Date: ASAP

SCOPE OF WORK

• Install and terminate electrical systems supporting data center operations, including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, generators, and associated distribution equipment.
• Install conduit systems, cable tray, grounding and bonding systems, and power distribution wiring.
• Pull, route, terminate, and test feeder, branch, and control wiring.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, BIM models, and construction specifications.
• Assist with startup, testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting using meters, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools.
• Support installation of mission-critical electrical infrastructure requiring high standards of reliability and uptime.
• Ensure all work complies with NEC requirements, client specifications, and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, inspections, and test results.
• Collaborate with project team members, including managers, engineers, and commissioning teams.
• Identify and resolve installation issues while maintaining project schedules.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians.
• Follow all safety policies and participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard analyses.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial, industrial, or mission-critical electrical experience.
• Journeyman Electrician License where required by jurisdiction.
• Must complete ladder and fall protection safety (CCS will provide).
• Experience installing electrical power distribution systems in data centers, industrial facilities, or large commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of NEC requirements and electrical construction practices.
• Ability to read electrical blueprints, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Experience with conduit installation, cable tray systems, feeder installations, and equipment terminations.
• Proficient with electrical testing instruments, including multimeters, megohmmeters, and continuity testing devices.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience working on hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience with UPS systems, backup generators, medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, grounding, and bonding systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience working in BIM/VDC-driven construction environments.
• Knowledge of commissioning and turnover processes.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and access confined spaces.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods in active construction environments.
• Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, arc-flash protection, and fall protection equipment.

Work Environment

• Active data center construction sites and mission-critical facilities.
• May require shift work, overtime, weekends, and travel based on project needs.
