Job summary

Pima County’s Parks & Recreation Department seeks an experienced Electrician to perform journey-level electrical work, including maintenance, troubleshooting and preventive tasks for public infrastructure. You will contribute to construction, fabrication, and documentation of electrical systems to ensure reliable operation.

Ideal candidates have an industry apprenticeship and several years of relevant experience, with licenses and safety practices in line with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship program in the electrician trade AND one year of experience performing journey-level electrical work. (Relevant education may substitute for up to six months of the aforementioned experience).
• OR: Two years of experience with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Technician or Facilities Management Specialty Trade Technician as an electrician maintaining commercial electrical systems and distribution lines of 120V to 13KV.

Responsibilities

• Performs journey-level maintenance, repair and testing of commercial/industrial electrical equipment and systems.
• Leads others in fabrication or modifications based on plans, sketches, or drawings.
• Provides testing and documentation on emergency power backup systems.
• Inspects, services and maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Performs quality control analyses and remedial actions for proper operation.
• Maintains records on activity, operations, service, and usage of equipment.
• Prepares sketches and drawings for work proposed or in-progress for supervisors and contractors.
• Coordinates activities with other units, agencies, or contractors to optimize resources and minimize disruptions.
• Monitors contractor performance and safety when engaging contractor-supplied goods/services.
