Canyon State Electric is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our on-site team for commercial, multi-family and industrial projects in Salt Lake City. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade electrical systems, reading blueprints, and performing control wiring with advanced wire-pulling techniques.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, own Journeyman tools, and knowledge of NEC. OSHA training is preferred. On-site attendance and ability to lift 50 pounds are required.

• 5+ years’ experience in commercial construction as an electrician.
• Experience in data center and high-rise projects preferred.
• Own Journeyman tools and ability to install switch gear.
• Proficient in control wiring for equipment.
• Advanced wire pulling techniques (e.g., Tuggers).
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and installation methods.
• OSHA certification preferred (training provided if needed).
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams.

The Position

The Journeyman Electrician position requires daily on‑site attendance, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and proficiency with construction equipment. Candidates must understand blueprints, have their own tools, and be familiar with special systems like fire alarms. Responsibilities include installing switch gear, performing control wiring, and using advanced wire pulling techniques. Strong time management skills and knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) are essential. OSHA certification is preferred, with training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Install wiring and lighting systems.
• Ensure compliance with state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Inspect components like transformers and circuit breakers.
• Perform control wiring for equipment.
• Supervise apprentices.
• Plan electrical systems for new buildings.
• Handle emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in commercial construction as an electrician.
• Experience working in data center and high‑rise projects preferred.
• Ability to install and make up switch gear (CaD weld).
• Proficient in control wiring for equipment.
• Advanced wire pulling techniques (e.g., Tuggers).
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and installation methods.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the construction process and equipment.
• Capable of performing tasks such as bending, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, and pulling throughout the day.
• OSHA certification preferred (training provided if needed).
• Basic knowledge of special systems (e.g., fire alarms, sound, voice data) preferred.
• Daily on‑site attendance required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Thorough understanding of blueprints.
• Possession of own Journeyman tools.

Pay Range: $33 to $38 per Hour
