Job summary

R.W. Mercer Electrical Contracting is seeking Licensed Journeyman Electricians to work independently under the guidance of a Master Electrician on commercial electrical systems. Responsibilities include installation, repair, and maintenance under local codes and company standards.

You will diagnose and resolve electrical issues, read blueprints and prints, and coordinate with sales/project management. The role requires self-motivation, safety compliance, and flexibility for varying hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalency.
• State of Michigan Journeyman License required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret prints, schematics, and reference material.
• Complete projects on time with focus and quality.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical problems.
• Guide and train Apprentice Electricians.
• Review projects with sales team/project managers.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked vehicle.
• Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints.

R.W. Mercer Electrical Contracting is looking for Licensed Journeyman Electricians that can work on their own under the general guidance of a Master Electrician. They are responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial electrical systems.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Knowledge of local electrical codes
• Knowledge of electrical circuits
• Ability to read and understand prints, schematics, and written reference material
• Ability to focus on a job and complete the same in a timely manner
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
• Ability to guide and train Apprentice Electricians

• Takes control and oversees projects

• Acquire proper materials to complete project
• Maintain a clean, well-serviced and well-stocked vehicle
• Attend a code review class every 3 years
• Fill out work orders with time and material rates for billing purposes
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety coordinator, or Human Resources.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints
• Experience with petroleum fueling systems a plus

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalency
• State of Michigan Journeyman License
• Valid Driver’s License
