Job summary

Gibraltar Fabrication, LLC is seeking a Journeyman to support field construction and perimeter security installations. You will work with field crews and project leadership to install components per drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Responsibilities include layout, measurements, site prep, and assembly of structural/mechanical systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and verify installations, while mentoring apprentices and maintaining safety on site.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level skilled trade experience.
• Minimum 3 years in heavy civil construction or perimeter security installation.
• Experience with fencing, gates, bollards, barriers, or access-control systems preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled trade work to support perimeter security construction and installation activities.
• Install and assemble structural, mechanical, and system components per project requirements.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specs, schematics, and installation details.

• Identify field conditions and work with leadership on solutions.
• Coordinate with operators, laborers, subcontractors and other trades.

• Mentor apprentices and share trade knowledge and safe practices.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow safety requirements.
• Perform other duties to support field crews as needed.

This role works closely with field crews and project leadership to safely and efficiently complete installations in accordance with construction drawings, project specifications, and quality standards.

What You'll Do

• Perform skilled trade work to support perimeter security construction and installation activities.
• Install and assemble structural, mechanical, and related system components in accordance with project requirements.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, schematics, and installation details.
• Perform field layout, take measurements, verify elevations and locations, and prepare areas for installation.
• Assist with excavation, concrete, anchoring, structural installation, and other construction activities as required.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and trade-specific equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components as assigned.
• Inspect completed work to verify proper installation and compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Identify field conditions or installation issues and work with project leadership to determine appropriate solutions.
• Coordinate with equipment operators, laborers, subcontractors, and other trades to support efficient field operations.
• Assist with equipment setup, testing, commissioning, and system adjustments as needed.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced employees by sharing trade knowledge and safe work practices.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow all company and site safety requirements.
• Perform other duties and support field crews based on project needs.

What You Bring

• Strong mechanical aptitude and field troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and construction equipment applicable to the work.
• Knowledge of construction methods, installation practices, and jobsite safety requirements.
• Awareness of construction hazards and safe work practices.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, excavation activities, active work zones, and other trades.
• Ability to take direction, complete assigned work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a field crew.
• Dependability, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather and site conditions, including rough terrain and waterways.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, lift, and perform physical work for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical equipment for heavier loads.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications | Experience

• Journeyman-level skilled trade experience or an equivalent combination of construction training and field experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, perimeter security installation, industrial construction, or a related skilled trade.
• Experience with fencing, gates, bollards, barriers, access-control infrastructure, structural steel, or similar perimeter security systems preferred.
• Experience working around heavy equipment, excavation, concrete operations, and active construction sites strongly preferred.
• Welding, rigging, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, or related skilled trade experience preferred.
• Forklift, aerial lift, or other applicable equipment certifications preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
