Job summary

Climate Pros is seeking a Construction Technician - Commercial Refrigeration to support building and retrofitting refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial environments across the Northeast United States, including MA, NY, NJ, PA, and MD. The role emphasizes adherence to union rules, safety, and high-quality project execution.

You will work with forepersons, project managers, and other trades, install and commission equipment, read blueprints, and document work accurately.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized union apprenticeship program or journeyman status in refrigeration, pipefitting, HVAC/R, or a related trade.
• Proven experience in commercial refrigeration construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and control drawings.
• Working knowledge of refrigeration systems, controls, piping practices, and startup procedures.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills related to installed systems.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team-based, union construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, and commission commercial refrigeration and HVAC/R systems from drawings and specs.
• Perform skilled pipefitting, brazing, welding, electrical and mechanical work on refrigeration projects.
• Install and connect components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping, valves, and ductwork.
• Pressure test, evacuate, and leak-test piping per code and manufacturer standards.
• Electrical testing of circuits, sensors, and controls.
• Inspect installations for compliance with scope, safety, and regulations.
• Coordinate with forepersons, project managers, other trades, and inspectors.
• Maintain professional interactions with customers and jobsite personnel.
• Complete required job documentation and time entries.
• Participate in after-hours or on-call rotations per agreements.
