Job summary

Climate Pros is seeking a Construction Technician – Commercial Refrigeration to perform journeyman-level installation and modification work on commercial refrigeration and HVAC/R systems on new construction, renovations, and retrofits. The role emphasizes safe work practices, adherence to union rules, and delivering high-quality project outcomes.

You will read blueprints, install equipment, perform pressure tests, coordinate with forepersons, and help ensure compliance with codes.

Qualifications

Completion of a recognized union apprenticeship program or journeyman status in refrigeration, pipefitting, HVAC/R, or a related trade.
Proven experience in commercial refrigeration construction environments.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and control drawings.
Working knowledge of refrigeration systems, controls, piping practices, and startup procedures.

Responsibilities

Install, modify, and commission commercial refrigeration and HVAC/R systems using construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Perform skilled pipefitting, brazing, welding, electrical, and mechanical work related to refrigeration construction projects.
Pressure test, evacuate, and leak-test piping and joints using electronic detection equipment, gauges, or approved test methods.
Perform electrical testing and verification of circuits, components, sensors, and controls related to refrigeration systems.
Coordinate work activities with forepersons, project managers, other trades, and inspectors to ensure efficient project progression.
