Job summary

Everforth Apex seeks a Journeyman Carpenter in Merrifield, VA, onsite, responsible for maintenance, construction, installation, and repairs across building systems. You will also manage projects, coordinate with contractors, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

Requirements include 5–10 years’ experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong collaboration as well as communication skills. The role emphasizes leadership in maintenance programs and safe, efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Must have driver’s license.
• Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national building codes.
• Knowledge of carpentry tools, mathematics, codes, materials, and safety regulations.
• 5–10 years of experience as a Journeyman Carpenter.
• Ability to lift, move and set up tools and equipment weighing over 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience that demonstrates journeyman level performance.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, determine, and complete maintenance requirements, including construction, alteration, installation, and repairs of buildings, equipment, and furnishings.
• Construct specialty items such as cabinets and shelves.
• Perform preventive maintenance on the building and its furnishings.
• Manage the Equipment Maintenance Program for the section, including developing checklists and training staff.
• Serve as project manager for building maintenance projects, directing the work of assistants and contractors.
• Conduct job analysis to determine project scope and work with customers and contractors.
• Select and recommend contractors through a competitive bidding process.
• Ensure scheduled project completion by coordinating with various stakeholders.
• Review technical documentation and blueprints.
• Inspect the work of external contractors for quality and adherence to specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to staff in other building trades.
• Complete assigned service orders and notify the customer upon completion.
• Assemble, disassemble, and repair furnishings and partitions.
• Inspect building systems to diagnose structural problems or malfunctions.
• Make recommendations concerning safety issues and code compliance.
