Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to support acquisition engineering activities for DoD programs in the United States. The role involves designing and testing computer systems and software to ensure airworthiness, plus rigorous system qualification and requirements development across weapon system platforms.

The candidate will collaborate with acquisition organizations and higher headquarters, applying SE processes for airworthiness, software releases, and configuration

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Ten or more years of DoD experience, including avionics and ACAT I program exposure.

Responsibilities

• Apply DoD 5000-series guidance and AFMC/AFLCMC policies to acquisition engineering activities.
• Design, develop, integrate and test computer systems and software for airworthiness and performance.
• Assess hardware, software and system qualification to meet airworthiness criteria.
• Develop system requirements and translate into design criteria and system specifications.
• Conduct system analyses, trade studies and risk assessments across weapon system platforms.
• Support development, deployment and sustainment of technical processes for safe operation.
• Review proposals and change packages; provide cost/schedule/performance recommendations.
• Support engineering reviews, TIMs, working groups and program reviews with technical input.

What You Will Do

• Apply DoDD 5000‑series guidance and AFMC/AFLCMC engineering policies to acquisition engineering activities.
• Design, develop, integrate and test Computer Systems & Software, to ensure adequate performance, safety, integrity, and airworthiness.
• Assess hardware, software, and systems qualification to meet airworthiness criteria, especially criteria in MIL-HBK-516, section 15.
• Support development and analysis of system and subsystem requirements, translating them into design criteria and system specifications.
• Conduct technical planning, system integration analyses, trade studies, and risk assessments across weapon system platforms.
• Assist in developing system performance requirements, integration objectives, and estimates for design, development, and sustainment.
• Review engineering proposals, designs, specifications, and change packages; provide recommendations to optimize cost, schedule, and performance.
• Support engineering reviews, design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), working groups, and program reviews, providing technical input, documentation, and reporting.
• Support systems and avionics engineering across requirements, design, integration, development, modification, test, airworthiness, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture.
• Coordinate with acquisition organizations, higher headquarters, DoW entities, labs, industry, and universities; support documentation and emerging technology assessments.
• Apply systems engineering processes for airworthiness, requirements, software releases, metrics and traceability, allocations, program protection, technical reviews, configuration audits, design analysis, interface integration, and test verification/validation.
• Support development, deployment, and sustainment of technical processes ensuring safe operation and maintenance of systems.

What You Will Need

• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their TOP SECRET clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility clearance are preferred.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• Minimum TEN (10) or more years of relevant DoD experience, including FIVE (5) years of relevant DoD avionics experience and TWO (2) years in a special access DoD acquisition program as a sub-system lead engineer within a recognized ACAT I program.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Technical experience with software and computer system architectures; software and systems integration processes; fault tolerance, redundancy management, and high integrity design techniques; computer system hardware and software criticality identification; Safety Critical Function (SCF) thread analysis; verification techniques for software, hardware and system integration, developing/maintaining System Integration Laboratory (SIL) facilities with high fidelity test capabilities to Verification and Validation (V&V) of software and hardware; system integration verification coverage; Operational Flight Program (OFP) build, load, and flight release process; and the functional compatibility of all software and hardware.
• Advanced degree (Highly Desirable) in Engineering or related field
• Demonstrated management and leadership skills in a collaborative environment
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively within all organizational levels, including senior DoD leadership

The annual salary range for this position is $118,000.00-$196,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
