Abtrex Industries in South Bend, IN is seeking an experienced journeyman 6G Welder to join our tank-building and fabrication shop. You will perform 6G pipe welding, read blueprints, and assemble components to exact specs, ensuring quality welds the first time.

Candidates must have a formal welding apprenticeship or equivalent, a 6G qualification or ability to pass a test, and the ability to work independently in a heavy industrial shop while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of professional welding experience with journeyman-level command.
• Current 6G welding qualification or ability to pass a 6G weld test.
• Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel; alloy experience is a plus.
• Proficient reading and interpretation of blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
• Ability to work independently to lay out, fit, and assemble fabricated components in a heavy fabrication shop.
• Experience in tank-building or heavy industrial fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of welding safety practices and proper equipment operation.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsabilités

• Perform journeyman-level 6G pipe welding for tanks, piping, and custom equipment.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
• Independently fit, assemble, and weld components according to project requirements.
• Follow welding procedures (WPS) and maintain tolerances.
• Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Safely operate welding equipment and measuring tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety practices.
• Collaborate with fitters and fabricators to complete projects on time.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced welders.
