The State of Utah is seeking an HVAC professional to service state buildings in Washington County and the Cedar City, Richfield, and Manti areas as needed. You will operate and maintain complex heating and air conditioning systems, troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and install parts and equipment.

This in-office role requires a Universal EPA refrigerant handling certification and experience with building automation or energy management systems; on-call rotation is required.

Qualifications

  • EPA Universal refrigerant handling certification required.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing complex HVAC systems.
  • Willingness to be on-call and travel within assigned service areas.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain complex heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, perform repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Evacuate and recharge air conditioning systems as needed.
  • Install parts, equipment, lines, and hardware per instructions.
  • Build, fabricate, or repair equipment using drawings or verbal instructions.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain records and logs; enter data into computer systems.
  • Perform general facility maintenance including plumbing/electrical tasks as needed.
  • Be on-call on a rotating basis.

Do you have an interest in working hard to serve state employees and customers by making sure the heating and air conditioning systems in state buildings are working and maintained properly? The position will provide HVAC services to State buildings in Washington County along with the Cedar City, Richfield and Manti areas as needed.

  • F T / PT Status – Full-Time
  • Benefits Eligibility – This position is eligible for a full benefits package.
  • Salary – $23.35 - $37.79 Hourly Wage

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain complex heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, make adjustments, repairs and/or perform preventative maintenance.
  • Evacuate and recharge air conditioning systems.
  • Install parts, equipment, lines, hardware or software, etc.
  • Build, fabricate, or repair equipment from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings.
  • Use and operate a variety of hand tools, electrical, mechanical, and automotive equipment.
  • Perform related plumbing, mechanical, painting and pipe fitting, etc., duties.
  • Enter data into a computer system and retrieve, correct, or delete previously entered data.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Perform general facility maintenance including, plumbing, electrical, groundskeeping, & snow removal, etc., as needed.
  • Perform building automation/energy management system maintenance, as needed.
  • Be on-call on a rotating basis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Universal EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing complex heating and air conditioning systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining and repairing complex energy management systems.
  • Experience in general facility maintenance, including plumbing and electrical.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to evolving needs, including other tasks as assigned.

  • Working Conditions: Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Physical Requirements: Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
  • Must be available for on call services.
  • DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers.
