Responsibilities & Expectations
- Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment.
- Conduct accurate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair all plant operating equipment.
- Disassemble and rebuild crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
- Install and maintain all types of bearings.
- Perform shaft alignments using precision tools.
- Apply knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Use equipment manuals, parts lists, or blueprints to install, repair, or order parts.
- Use CMMS system to ensure work orders and checklists are completed accurately.
- Electrical: troubleshoot and repair parts on drives.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and air cylinders.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and control circuits.
- Install and align electrical motors and A/C drives.
- Perform routine mechanical tasks such as replacement of bearings, idlers, dust collector bags, gearboxes, and drive belts.
- Perform basic electrical calculations using test equipment (multimeters, megger, current generator, Hart communicator, etc.).
- Fabricate and install conduit, perform soldering operations, troubleshoot and maintain motor control circuits.
- Ensure inventory parts are correctly charged, available before starting jobs.
- Ensure safety compliance, complete and document workplace inspections.
- Keep maintenance tools in good condition.
- Participate in vendor and company-designated training and new equipment installations.
Attributes
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics to assist in troubleshooting equipment failures.
- Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant is required.
- Read and understand one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
- Must be able to work extended shift to complete repairs and keep major and critical equipment running.
- Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
- Demonstrate ability to operate a computer preferred.
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Self-Starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
- Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
