Job description

Position Summary

Maintenance workers are responsible to keep the mechanical equipment reliable while supporting the 24/7 plant operations. A Mechanic B is expected to be able to perform all functions of a Mechanic C including the above expectations.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment.
• Conduct accurate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
• Troubleshoot, service, and repair all plant operating equipment.
• Disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
• Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings.
• Perform shaft alignments using precision tools.
• Apply knowledge of pneumatic systems.
• Use equipment manuals, parts lists, or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts.
• Apply process knowledge of the CMMS system to ensure that work orders and checklists are completed accurately.
• Ensure inventory parts are correctly charged from store and that all parts are available before starting a job.
• Maintain knowledge of all safety aspects, comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations, complete workplace inspections, and keep maintenance tools in good condition.
• Upgrade skills through vendor and company‑designated training and train on new equipment installations.

Attributes

• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for troubleshooting equipment failures.
• Industrial background with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant.
• Ability to read and understand one‑line diagrams and schematics.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment desirable.
• Basic mathematical calculation skills required.
• Telephone access and willingness to respond to call‑outs.
• Ability to work extended shifts to complete repairs and keep critical equipment running.
• Effective communication and interaction with supervisors, managers, and peers.
• Computer operation ability preferred.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Self‑starter with ability to work under minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

• Work outside in severe weather conditions, heavy industrial temperature, noise, and dust.
• Access areas within the site that may include heights up to 120ft, confined spaces, ladders, stairs, and tunnels.
• Lift up to 75pounds.
• Work rotating shifts, seven days a week, including holidays, and remain flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Required Experience

3+ years of mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, or ability to demonstrate mechanical experience, including welding and minor equipment troubleshooting.
