Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair plant equipment, install updates, and support safe, efficient operations in a mining environment.

The role requires reading blueprints, welding experience, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts, including holidays. Training, access to safety programs, and opportunities for professional development are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience; willingness to work all shifts, holidays and weekends.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills; capable of reading blueprints and understanding conveyor systems, hydraulics, and industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment and troubleshoot/repair equipment.
• Install new plant equipment and maintain safe, efficient work conditions; assist with basic electrical work.
• Work with outside contractors on equipment and maintain neat, orderly parts rooms.
• Participate in SQF and safety compliance activities and audits.
• Provide on-the-job training and support for other maintenance staff.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment, troubleshoot and repair all plant equipment, install all new plant equipment, maintain safe and efficient work condition of all mobile equipment, perform minor electrical work, work with outside contractors on equipment and keep parts rooms neat and orderly.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

• Safe Quality Food (SQF)

• Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA – Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507)
• Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs
• Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture
• Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture
• Complete periodic SQF training(s)
• Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees
• Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site

• Basic knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment related to maintenance work is desired.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Basic knowledge of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the industry.
• undefined PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required in this position. Will be working at times in office environment but mainly in a mining environment. The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles. The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting. Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed.Ability to wear all required safety gear including but not limited to: fall protection harness, gloves, glasses, hard hat, steel toed boots, welding helmet, etc.
• REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or demonstrated skills or ability and/or formal technical training through apprenticeship or technical school.
• PREFFERED EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Mechanical Technician, Engineering, Technical trade school and certifications or equivalent work experience in the field is desired.
• REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or and/or 3-5 years’ experience in industrial background. The ability and willingness to work on any shift, and be on call, overtime, and weekends. Must have strong mechanical, electrical, planning, welding, reading blueprints, conveyor systems, hydraulics, and industrial equipment repair experience.
• PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years of industrial maintenance experience in a mining
