Purpose:

Independently perform diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance on customer and dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment, with some guidance from the Service Management team.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere agricultural equipment and technology, and on competitive equipment as needed.
  • Conduct diagnosis and repair primarily at the shop, and in the field as required.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary for the work.
  • Participate in John Deere University and dealer-led training to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Stay current with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Meet requirements for an Advanced Service Technician.
  • Mentor apprentices and students as requested.
  • Support customer clinics and maintain work area and equipment.
  • Follow safety rules, track billable time and materials, and complete reports promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of service repair experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform repairs using technical manuals with minimal rework.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems in off-road, construction, or lawn equipment.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and basic computer functions; experience with Service ADVISOR preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL and forklift license preferred.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
  • Driving record meeting insurance requirements.
