Job summary

Northeast Arc, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, seeks a Job Developer to create employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will build relationships with local employers and coordinate job coaching and support plans from placement to ongoing employment.

The role requires strong communication, creativity in job development, advocacy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while supporting clients in achieving inclusive employment outcomes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and community.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop employment opportunities within local communities and build relationships with employers.
  • Assist individuals in securing competitive employment opportunities aligned with their interests, skills, and goals.
  • Develop job coaching and support plans once employment placements are secured.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and record all communications and required follow-up activities.
  • Support Employment Specialists with job coaching needs and ensure individuals receive the appropriate level of support to achieve workplace success.
  • Maintain regular professional communication, both verbally and in writing, with employers, families, guardians, funding sources, and other stakeholders.
  • Meet the physical and personal care needs of individuals supported by the program as required.
  • Transport individuals using a personal vehicle as needed (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with flexibility to work alternate hours based on the needs of individuals served and employer partners.

Target Rate:

$26.50 Hourly

Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to, the individual's experience, education, and internal equity.

Job Summary

The Job Developer provides employment readiness training and career development services to individuals supported by Northeast Arc. This position is responsible for identifying employment opportunities in local communities, assisting individuals in securing competitive employment, and providing ongoing support throughout the employment process. The Job Developer works closely with individuals served, employers, families, guardians, funding sources, and internal staff to promote successful employment outcomes and community inclusion.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, creativity in job development, effective relationship-building abilities, sound judgment, and a commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their employment goals.

Transportation Requirements
  • Reliable personal vehicle available for transportation of individuals as needed.

  • Strong advocacy and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Physical Demands
  • Must have the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for up to one hour uninterrupted.
  • Ability to provide physical assistance and personal care support when necessary.
  • Frequent travel within the community to meet with employers and support individuals served.

Work is performed in a variety of settings, including Northeast Arc program locations, community employment sites, employer offices, and public settings throughout the local community. Regular travel is required. The position involves direct interaction with individuals served, employers, families, and community partners while supporting employment and inclusion opportunities.
