Description: The Job Developer Specialist works closely with the Career Specialist and the STEP-UP participant in preparing for permanent employment. The Job Developer establishes and maintains relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure subsidized employment opportunities for STEP-UP participants. The Job Developer explores the participant’s skills, interests, and qualifications to identify suitable employment opportunities. They work with the Career Specialist to assist participants in re-entering the workforce.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent (Work and/or life experience)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience or equivalent in providing job counseling, job development, and job retention services to disadvantaged, hard-to-serve populations and Welfare-to-Work (WTW) recipients
  • Experience developing Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) and case management
  • Ability to facilitate job readiness workshops, create resumes, and develop job placements and worksites
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and reliably follow through on tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and internet search tools
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to perform all essential functions with reasonable accommodation
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with a good driving record; ability to drive for this position

Responsibilities:

  • Develop employer contacts in private and public sectors, establish paid and unpaid work experience opportunities, and create direct-hire relationships
  • Assess employer needs and advise on agency’s employment services
  • Skills in resume writing, interviewing, job search activities, coaching, and job retention
  • Track and verify work hours, performance, and case notes
  • Assist in identifying and removing employment barriers
  • Evaluate participants to determine job interests and placements
  • Match skills and abilities to employment openings and make referrals
  • Place STEP-UP participants in unsubsidized employment, providing coaching and retention support
  • Maintain contact with employers and participants post-placement to ensure stability
  • Collect employment verification letters and perform follow-up to ensure job retention
  • Maintain accurate and complete participant files
  • Experience in organizing job fairs and other related duties
