Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Job Captain (Technical Designer) for a landmark integrated resort project in Las Vegas. You will join the design team to blend architectural vision with technical excellence, producing compelling, buildable spaces for a premier client.

You will partner with the Project Architect, manage construction documentation, coordinate design intent, and support construction administration. A strong portfolio and 5–8 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
  • 5-8 years of post-graduation experience.
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
  • Portfolio and resume in PDF required for consideration.
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, materials, specs and construction techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction.
  • Coordinate design intent into the construction documentation.
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and ensure quality control during construction.
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives.
  • Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts.

Job description

We’re seeking a Job Captain (Technical Designer) to join our project team for the design of a confidential integrated resort—a landmark destination envisioned to redefine the relationship between architecture, landscape, and experience.

Spanning over one million square feet, the project will blend casino, food and beverage, and hotel environments with over 75,000 square feet of special venue space, including an award-winning steakhouse, a rooftop bar, a collection of one-of-a-kind lounges and entertainment venues, and a world-class spa.

The resort will also feature a championship golf course that connects the built environment to its natural setting in a seamless and dramatic way.

The guest tower celebrates 500 guest rooms, culminating in a range of scale and luxury experiences, highlighted by the sky suites, offering panoramic views and elevated private experiences. This project embodies the ambition to create a destination that is immersive, contemporary, and unforgettable in every detail.

Your Role

As a Gensler Job Captain (Technical Designer), your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. With you as part of the design team, architecture has never been so engaging.

What You Will Do
  • Partner with Project Architect to produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of projects
  • Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program
  • 5-8 years of post-graduation experience
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient in Revit, Rhino, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
  • LEED accreditation preferred
