JLVC Database Technician

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
- Build high-fidelity simulation databases that accurately represent operational environments and support realistic collective training environments
- Apply simulation database standards, feature characterization, terrain attribution, and environmental data to ensure accurate representation
- Translate unit training requirements and operational scenarios into customized terrain and database products that enhance training realism
- Create simulation databases with accurate operational data, entities, infrastructure, environmental features, and other scenario-specific information
- Conduct comprehensive data validation, trouble shooting, and corrective actions to ensure simulation fidelity
- Assist with data formatting and import/export operations across all simulation platforms
- Refine terrain and database products based on exercise feedback, after-action reviews, and evolving training objectives
- Willing to learn, work as part of team, and as an individual with minimal guidance
- Participate in other projects as required
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Education: AS/AA in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, Modeling and Simulation or a related technical discipline, OR the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, relevant experience or specialized technical training
- Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience in simulation database development, modeling and simulation, or a related technical discipline; preferred 2+ years' experience developing, modifying, managing terrain and database products for military simulations or training systems and experience supporting Army or Joint collective training events
- Required Technical Skills: applicant shall possess experience in Developing, modifying, validating, and sustaining JLVC simulation databases and parametric data sets by using JTDS or VISTA
- Familiarity with U.S. military equipment, force structure, and strategy to ensure accurate representation and alignment within simulation databases and training environments
- Terrain generation and visualization , including elevation data, imagery, feature data, and three-dimensional terrain products
- Geospatial data formats and standards , including raster, vector, elevation, imagery, and other spatial data formats
- Data conversion, transformation, and validation between multiple geospatial and simulation formats
- Terrain and database quality assurance , including accuracy checks, data validation, and fidelity assessments
- Configuration and version management of terrain and database products
- Simulation interoperability and an understanding of how terrain and database products support distributed training environments
- Understanding of the JELC process
- Security Clearance Level: SECRET clearance is required with ability to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
- Required Skills and Abilities: Strong ability to identify and troubleshoot problems on assigned simulation drivers (JLVC/JCATS, etc.) (co-located and at remote sites)
- Experience translating operational scenarios and training requirements into realistic terrain and simulation database products
- Strong effective presentation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple terrain and database development efforts while meeting demanding exercise timelines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift 40lbs of equipment; ability to perform shift work of up to 12 hours with long periods of standing or walking

Location: On Customer Site / moderate travel required to other customer sites in the AoR
