Job summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Jira Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer for a hybrid role—onsite 3 days/week in the DC area. The candidate will own the Jira SaaS environment within Atlassian Government Cloud and lead migrations from Azure DevOps and GitLab to Jira, while building secure integrations with GitLab, ServiceNow, and Okta.

You will partner with infrastructure and security teams, design complex workflows, automate processes, and support Agile reporting and governance across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• 3+ years of Jira administration or platform engineering experience in SaaS or self-hosted environments.
• Strong knowledge of Jira workflows, automation, permissions, security schemes, dashboards, and platform configuration.
• Hands-on experience integrating Jira with enterprise platforms, particularly GitLab and/or ServiceNow.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and DevSecOps principles.
• Experience in DevSecOps or Platform Engineering environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Jira Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer on behalf of our client in the United States. This role will serve as the technical owner of an enterprise Jira SaaS environment within Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC).

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Jira administration, platform integrations, Agile/DevSecOps environments, and enterprise migrations. This position will play a key role in transitioning planning tools from Azure DevOps and GitLab to Jira and building secure integrations with enterprise platforms including GitLab, ServiceNow, and Okta.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, optimize, and maintain Jira SaaS / Atlassian Government Cloud.
• Design and manage custom workflows, issue types, screens, fields, permissions, security schemes, and automation rules.
• Build and maintain integrations between Jira, GitLab, ServiceNow, Okta, and other enterprise systems using REST APIs, webhooks, middleware, and scripting.
• Support enterprise migrations from Azure DevOps, GitLab, and hosted Jira environments to Jira SaaS.
• Automate data synchronization and enable end-to-end traceability across planning, development, release, and operations.
• Troubleshoot platform and integration issues while ensuring performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Agile teams to ensure platform configurations align with organizational standards.
• Support Agile reporting and metrics, including velocity, burndown, and cycle time.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, platform standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and development teams on effective Jira utilization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on Jira administration or platform engineering experience in SaaS or self‑hosted environments.
• Strong knowledge of Jira workflows, automation, permissions, security schemes, dashboards, and platform configuration.
• Hands‑on experience integrating Jira with enterprise platforms, particularly GitLab and/or ServiceNow.
• Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and workflows.
• Experience working within a DevSecOps or Platform Engineering environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating from Azure DevOps or similar platforms to Jira.
• Experience with Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC).
• Familiarity with the broader Atlassian ecosystem, including Confluence, Bitbucket, and Marketplace applications.
• Knowledge of information security, privacy, risk, and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and SOX.
• Previous experience supporting public‑sector or government environments.
• Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting enterprise‑scale Agile transformation initiatives.
