Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a qualified teacher to deliver district-approved curriculum, manage classrooms, and engage students with effective instructional strategies.   • Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
  • Must be familiar with the use of computers, including but not limited to email and Microsoft Office.
  • Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
  • Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
  • Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches district approved curriculum.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study using varied instructional techniques and media to meet individual student needs.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' maturity and interests.
  • Maintains a safe environment for students and school property.
  • Adheres to and enforces district policies and rules.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of behavior.
  • Guides learning toward curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives.
  • Assists in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists.
  • Evaluates academic and social growth and prepares progress reports.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Maintains up-to-date curriculum maps.
  • Makes self available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day.
  • Attends school events as scheduling allows.
  • Maintains ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Provides a safe environment per risk management plan.
  • Serves on district committees/teams.
  • Maintains district-provided technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by administration.

Job description

  1. Teaches District approved curriculum.
  2. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  3. Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media that meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students.
  4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  5. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  6. Adheres to and enforces all District policies and rules.
  7. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  8. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  9. Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students, with the assistance of District specialists.
  10. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
  12. Maintain up-to-date curriculum maps.
  13. Remain available to students and parents for education=relate purposes outside the instructional day, such as parent-teacher conferences.
  14. Attend as many school events as scheduling will allow.
  15. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all staff members.
  16. Provides a safe environment for students and staff as per the Risk Management plan.
  17. Serve on District committees/teams to promote the growth of the District.
  18. Maintain technology provided by the District.
  19. Perform all other duties reasonable related to position as may be assigned by administration.
