Job summary

Lester Prairie School in Minnesota seeks a 7-8th Grade Girls Basketball coach to lead with a positive culture and build strong relationships with student-athletes and parents.

Under the direction of the Head Girls Basketball Coach, you will plan and execute training and competition to maximize performance and ensure continuity across levels, while communicating with all program stakeholders to provide a high-quality experience.

Qualifications

• Minnesota teaching and coaching certification preferred but not required.
• Experience as a teacher in the Lester Prairie School District preferred.
• Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport desirable.
• Knowledge and background in basketball or the sport assigned.
• Works collaboratively with students, parents, and community members.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with youth and adults.
• Strong team-building, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Must be able to model positive behavior and represent LP Schools with respect in all communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in planning, development, and execution of the middle school girls basketball program.
• Implement an effective training and competition program under the Head Coach to maximize performance.
• Communicate effectively with all program stakeholders to ensure a positive experience for student-athletes.
• Manage equipment inventory for the program.

Job description

1. Provide leadership in the planning, development, and execution of the 7-8th Grade Girls Basketball program by focusing on building a positive culture and developing quality relationships with student-athletes and parents

2. Under direction of Head Girls Basketball Coach, implement an effective training and competition program that maximizes student-athlete performance in the sport and ensures continuity through all levels

3. Communicate effectively with all program stakeholders to ensure a positive, quality experience is provided for our student-athletes

4. Manage equipment inventory for program

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Prefer, but not required, Minnesota teaching and coaching certification.

2. Prefer, but not required, employment as a teacher in Lester Prairie School District.

3. Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desirable.

4. Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.

5. Works collaboratively with students, parents, and other members of the community.

6. Effective interpersonal interactions and communication skills as applied to interaction with both youth and adults.

7. Skilled in team building, decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution

8. Ability to serve as an effective role model for student-athletes and represent LP Schools with respect in all communities
